Pensacola Pelicans
The Pensacola Pelicans is a baseball team that is part of the American Association of Professional Baseball, an independent baseball league. The Pensacola Pelicans are much more. They are a team that is invested in the local community. Players participate in summer camps and weekend baseball clinics for local little league players. Scoop’s Reading Challenge is a incentive program that encourages kids to find out that reading is fun! The Kids Club identifies children as SPECIAL fans at Pelican Park with their own t-shirts and promotion nights.
The Pelicans also supported our efforts at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. Talmadge Nunnari, General Manager, Mac Siebert, Field Manager, players and Scoop (who was the biggest hit!) joined us on our annual visit to the hospital, bringing baseball cards and posters. They also donated an “evening out at the park” to some kids and their families, allowing them to watch the game and enjoy some delicious food from a Beach Suite. Finally, a John Webb baseball jersey was auctioned and raised $2,000 for the Child Life Program at Sacred Heart.
The 2008 season may be over for now but if you like baseball, if you are looking for an evening of family fun, Pelicans baseball at Jim Spooner Field at Pelican Park on the University of West Flordia campus is the place to be in May 2009.
